The first visit to the vet
As soon as you know when your kitten is coming, it's time to find a vet. Ask the breeder when the first vaccination took place. Usually the second vaccination for the basic immunization needs to be given within the next 2-3 weeks. It's important that you feel comfortable and safe when you visit the vet. If the first visit doesn't meet your expectations, don't be afraid to change vets. Trust and a good feeling are crucial for your kitten's health.
Settling in at home
When your kitten arrives, let him explore the whole house or apartment first. Show him his sleeping places and lie down there so he can snuggle up to you and feel safe. Make sure water and food bowls are ready before he arrives.
On the first and second day, your kitten may not want to eat properly. This is normal as it needs to get used to its new surroundings. Make sure that from the second day onwards, meals are given at roughly the same times. Ask the breeder how often the kitten has been fed to ensure a smooth transition.
With these tips, you can ensure that your kitten quickly feels comfortable and grows up healthy. Patience and attention are the key to giving your new family member the best possible start.
